Cats Know Their Names, But They Choose To Ignore Us – Study

Everyone had their cats named, but do our cats give responses when we call their names? Based on a study, cats have the ability to memorize their names but they prefer to ignore it.

Research that has been made in Sophia University in Japan by Dr. Atsuko shows that cats give responses by moving their head or ears when heard their names being called. Their names were called between three other words that have the same length as their names, no other response after the other words were called.

“There is research about a dog’s ability to communicate with humans. We believe it is important to make it happen on cats” said Dr. Atsuko.

“Cats understand the signal that given by human way better than we expected,” he added.

Previous research shows reactions from other animals such as dogs, dolphins, and parrots.
