Think you’ve explored every shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur? There’s a new one to add to your list! 118 Mall officially opened on 1 November 2026, bringing a fresh shopping and lifestyle destination to the heart of the city.
Sitting right beneath the iconic Merdeka 118, the seven-storey mall is home to a mix of fashion retailers, local brands, dining spots and some pretty interesting architectural features. With 158 stores already operating, there’s quite a bit to explore beyond window shopping.
If you’re planning to drop by, here are a few things worth checking out.
1. Discover Homegrown Brands At Malaysian Artisan District
If you’re tired of seeing the same international brands everywhere, the Malaysian Artisan District (M.A.D.) might be right up your alley.
Located on Level 3, this dedicated space brings together local fashion labels, handicraft makers and homegrown businesses. It’s a nice opportunity to discover Malaysian-made products and perhaps pick up something you wouldn’t usually find at mainstream retail stores.
2. An Optical Illusion? Nope, It’s A Mechanical Display
At first glance, you might think it’s just a clever visual effect on a giant screen. However, this unusual feature at 118 Mall is actually mechanical!

Instead of relying solely on digital animations, the display uses moving panels that shift and change positions to create different geometric patterns. The result is an almost optical-illusion-like effect that makes you want to stop and take a closer look.
It’s definitely one of the more unusual visual features to look out for during your visit.
3. Look Up At The 88-Metre Glass Dome
This is probably one of the mall’s more eye-catching architectural features.
Known as The Atmosphere, the event space on Level 4 features an impressive 88-metre glass dome that lets natural light filter into the area during the day. Once evening comes, its lighting transforms the ceiling into a different visual display.
Spanning 20,000 square feet, the space will also host exhibitions, public events and brand activations.
4. Catch The Raincloud Installation
Who says shopping malls are only about stores and restaurants?
The Raincloud installation adds a little something different to the experience, combining flowing water with projected lighting displays. It’s an interesting visual feature to look out for while making your way around the mall.
5. Shop Your Favourite Brands
Of course, there’s still plenty to browse if you’re visiting with shopping in mind.
118 Mall features a combination of local and international retailers, including UNIQLO, Coach, Onitsuka Tiger, Ray-Ban, BookXcess and Village Grocer.
And if that sounds like a lot already, the mall has more than 300 stores planned for its full retail lineup, so there should be even more to discover as new tenants come in.
A New Mall To Put On Your KL To-Visit List
From its eye-catching architectural features to the Malaysian Artisan District, 118 Mall offers more than just another shopping experience. With more stores set to open, there’s even more reason to keep this new KL destination on your radar.
