COVID-19: Egg-cellent News For Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, July 9  — A picture of an egg which was uploaded on the Health Ministry’s Facebook and Twitter accounts to indicate that Malaysia has recorded zero local transmission of COVID-19 yesterday has set social media abuzz.

Netizens welcomed the good news and flooded both pages to express gratitude and appreciation to the frontliners for their tireless efforts in combating the COVID-19 pandemic.

Twitter user @bblogasm commented “I just know y’all (you all) have this in the draft, waiting”, while @hadi_nor said “Egg-cellent!”.

Yesterday also marked the second time the country has recorded zero local transmission of COVID-19 with only three new cases reported, all imported ones involving Malaysians who were infected overseas.

On July 1, Malaysia recorded zero cases of local transmissions of COVID-19 for the first time since March 18.

However, until a vaccine is found, it is vital for Malaysians to be cautious and take preventive measures in order to free the nation from this dangerous virus.

Previously, Health director-general Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said that Malaysia needs 28 days of zero COVID-19 cases before it can be declared free of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, the government has also allowed four more categories of institutions of higher learning (IPT) students to return to their campuses in stages starting this month with the full student intake being in October.

However, students are asked to continue practicing social distancing and maintaining good personal hygiene practices on campus.
