Recently, a photo that shows a human-sized bat has gained the attention of many social media users. Many of them were doubt about the picture.

The photo that was uploaded on Twitter by @AlexJoestar622 garnered more than 109,000 retweets and over 269,000 likes.

“Remember when I told y’all about the Philippines having human-sized bats? Yeah, this was what I was talking about,” said the Twitter user.

The image shows a giant golden-crowned flying fox, hanging upside down from a roof. It is believed to be taken in the Philippines. But, does it real?

It is said that the picture that was taken is just a smart camera trick. As reported by Daily Mail, with some clever forced perspective photography, the bats can look much bigger than its actual size.

Although the photo is just a camera trick, it cannot be denied that the giant golden-crowned flying fox is one of the largest bat species in the world with wingspan up to 1.7 meters (5.58 feet).

@louistenantIV, one of the Twitter users that comment in the tweets stated that the wingspan of the bat was huge while the body was not that big.

Despite their large wingspan, these bats will only consume mostly fruits.

“Heya, from the Philippines here. I can confirm this, they have a huuuuuge wingspan but the bodies are not really that big, more or less like the same body as a medium (bit smaller) sized dog. And yeah they only eat fruits, guavas most particularly. They’re really gentle too,” said @louistenantIV.
