A post on Facebook shows how creative Malaysians can be. A mom from Making Orang Asli Mother’s Independent (MOAMI) transformed a rice bag into a shopping bag and it looks stunning.

Those who are behind this creative idea are the Orang Asli women. These women are from Kampung Tekir in Labu, Negeri Sembilan. This initiative is to empower them since they have been affected by the Movement Control Order.
The women were making conference bags but due to MCO, meetings had been suspended and they came up with the video to make grocery bags from rice bags so that the women can continue to make a livelihood.
The Orang Asli women will be charging around Rm5 to Rm10 depending on the size and customization. Customers are encouraged to send three to five bags of about 1kg of empty plastic rice bags to the village.
Most of the Orang Asli women are housewives. It will take about a week before the bags can be sent back to the customers.
