The COVID-19 Fund Recommended As a Relief For Malaysians Stranded Overseas

The COVD-19 Fund will be expanded to provide for the costs of bringing home stranded Malaysians abroad. Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri said this was due to the government’s concern over health conditions in some countries which the World Health Organization (WHO) described as critical.

“Today’s meeting has asked the Wisma Putra to come up with plans for the cost of repatriation or to bring back our stranded people,” said Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri.

In the meantime, according to him, the Special Meeting also agreed to propose the fund under the supervision of the National Disaster Management Authority (NADMA) expanded for that purpose.

“Before this, we have focused in the countries, such as food basket distribution funds and so on, we now propose that the COVID-19 Fund be expanded to be used to bring back our stranded people, especially in high-risk countries,” he added.

The public is being called on to donate to the COVID-19 Fund to join the government.
