On 4th August, Lebanon had a massive explosion that killed at least 160 people and 6000 people were injured. Improper storage of ammonium nitrate in a warehouse had caused a huge explosion which results in a 3.3 magnitude earthquake.
Following the catastrophe, Hassan Diab, Lebanon’s Prime Minister announced his resignation on Monday. Before his resignation, 20 members of the cabinet also announced their resignations.
“I declare today the resignation of this government,” said Hassan.
The disastrous event is believed to be blamed for the corruption that happened in the cabinet.
State security officials gave warning to the government regarding the danger of storing the chemicals in the port. However, no action had been taken which lead to the explosion.
Due to this matter, Lebanon has to form a new cabinet after Diab and his 20 ministers stepped down from the government.
