Recently, a pair of Michael Jordan’s trainers were up for auction. The sneakers fetched to $615,000 as it gained the interest of collectors.

The Nike Air Jordan 1  sneakers are worn by the legendary player in an exhibition game in 1985. It was claimed to be the greatest collection of Michael Jordan footwear ever offered. Michael Jordan was sponsored by Nike throughout his career. The game where he wore this sneaker was a very memorable game as Jordan dunked the basketball so hard that the glass backboard shattered.

His other footwears that are up for sale are the Air Jordan 7 “Olympic” shoes, the Air Jordan 10 Baseball Cleats, and a pair of classic Jordan 14s.

There are people who collect trainers for their collections. Carl Webb, a collector of trainers had collected 170 pairs of vintage trainers. He stated that collecting trainers had to do a lot with nostalgia. Carl had only worn 30 pairs of trainers he owned and keep the rest for display.

Carl also stated that the value of a trainer is determined by its unavailability and how it is associated with the players or events. A more memorable event surely gained a higher price for the shoes if it is up for sale.
