Recently, West Country fairground had emergency services rushed to the place as a crowd gathered after terrified passengers were stuck on a swing ride which stopped in mid-air for two hours.
It said that four people to be trapped on the ride for more than two hours. Firefighters were called to the scene around 5:15 pm after received a call of four people stuck after a ride stopped in mid-air.
Can be seen in the picture, one of the tall swing rides, with people hanging from seats in the air with their feet dangling in the sky. GloucesterhireFire and Rescue Service confirmed two crews were sent to the scene from Gloucester North and Gloucester South, with specialist ladders.
Gloucestershire police then arrived at the scene to manage onlookers as a crowd built up around the ride.
Reported that no one was hurt during the incident although the trapped riders were stuck for more than two hours high above the park. A spokesman for the Bob Wilson’s Funfairs explained a safety mechanism on the ride had kicked in and stopped it, and that everyone involved was safe and well.
She also confirmed that the Star Flyer would be back open again tomorrow for the last day of the fair, which opens at 2 pm. The fair at Gloucester Park is an annual favorite for the city and has been in place this summer on weekends throughout August.
A tweet regarding the incident tweeted by the fire service: “Gloucester crews had an unusual call to the Fair today, on arrival one of the rides had stuck up at 25m and the organizers were trying to release the brake, our crews set up a safe platform to rescue if the break didn’t release, but all went well and the ride came back down slowly.”
