Famous rock star Eddie Van Halen died at the age of 65 from cancer. The sad news was announced by his son, Wolf Van Halen, via his Twitter account.
“I can’t believe I’m having to write this but my father, Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, has lost his long and arduous battle with cancer this morning,” said Wolf.
“He was the best father I could ever ask for. Every moment I’ve shared with him on and off stage was a gift,” he added.
Eddie Van Halen was born in Amsterdam on January 26, 1955. He later studied classical piano after moving in the 1960s to the outskirts of Pasadena in Los Angeles with his family.
After switching to guitar, Eddie and his older brother Alex, who were good at playing drums formed a group called Van Halen in the mid-1970s, with lead singer David Lee Roth and bassist Michael Anthony.
Being one of the most influential groups in the United States, Van Halen is famous for its various songs such as Jump, Panama, Runnin ‘with the Devil, and solo guitar, Eruption.
Eddie is famous for two-handed tapping technique on the strings and managed to get a place alongside Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Jimmy Page as one of the most famous rock guitarists.
