A very rare baby albino shark with only one eye has been found by fishermen in Indonesia. The baby shark was found in the stomach of an adult shark that died after being trapped in a net while fishermen were sailing across the Maluku province.
The adult shark was cleaned and its stomach was cut open to remove the intestines where they found a small white shark inside.
The baby shark has one eye in the center of its head and its whole body is milky white. While the fins and other parts are already formed.
One of the fishermen, Andy, said that the shark may have been pregnant with a rare baby before being caught in the net on October 10 by accident.
“We found three babies inside its stomach, but one of them looked strange with only one eye. Its color was strange too, like milk,” said Andy.
The fishermen then reported the incident to the local marine office before handing over the baby shark. It was reported that the rare creature was dead when they found it.
According to DailyMail, the baby shark has a condition called Cyclopia, a birth defect that causes the embryo to form only one eye instead of two.
Its other condition, Albinism, forces sharks to produce low amounts of melanin, which is responsible for the pigment in the body.
