A 13-year-old girl has died after falling from the roof while being chased by a group of raging monkeys in India. The teenager died in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, yesterday, police said.
Before the incident, she went to the roof to pick up the laundry that had been left to dry before being chased by a group of fierce monkeys.
She was rushed to hospital but doctors later confirmed she had died on arrival at the hospital.
Monkeys are often a threat in Muzaffarnagar district and last year, a four-month-old baby was killed in a horrific accident while at home with his parents.
A monkey picked up a rock on the family’s terrace before dropping it on the boy in the northern district, authorities said.
He was taken to a hospital where doctors confirmed he had died.
Recently, two more deadly attacks have claimed the lives of a 12-day-old baby and a 58-year-old woman.
The first attack saw a group of monkeys enter a woman’s house while she was breastfeeding in Kachhara district before snatching the baby from her.
The locals then chased the monkey carrying the baby and tried to distract him with food but he later bit the child as people approached and continued to flee.
The baby was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
In the second attack, a 58-year-old woman was bitten by monkeys as she went to escape outside her home on the outskirts of the city at night.
She was attacked by a group of monkeys which left her bleeding profusely through a series of bite wounds. She was taken to hospital but later died of her injuries.
