Woman Shares Story About Almost Dying From Using Tampon

At the age of 32, young Kristina Makris almost faced a near-death experience from wearing a tampon.

A tweet went viral when someone posted a screenshot of Kristina Makris’s post regarding her experience.

“Super absorbency tampons put you at a higher risk. What happens is; the fibers start to develop bacteria then turn into a staff infection. The infection travels to your blood, then to your organs and that’s when your body starts shutting down,” said Kristina in her post.

Kristina continues that after her last period before everything went south, she developed a swollen lymph node on her left groin, where she thought it was a pulled groin. On the 15th of January of 2018, Kristina was hit with feverish symptoms.

Kristina’s mother felt worried about her and got her checked immediately, to the relief of the doctors.

“The doctors told me if I didn’t come when I did I either would have lost limbs or worse… died,” she said in her post.

Kristina had surgery on her inner thigh where the infection resides. Post-surgery, she was admitted to the hospital for 2 weeks, being pumped with two kinds of antibiotics, gaining around 13 kilograms of fluids.

Overall, it took Kristina 3 months to get back to her normal life, and she is still currently suffering from the trauma.
