95,161 Applicants Obtain Employment via MYFutureJobs

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 9 — A total of 95,161 applicants nationwide succeeded in obtaining jobs via employment portal MYFutureJobs, said Deputy Human Resources Minister Awang Hashim.

He said from the total, 44,940 applications were aged between 20 and 29 including graduates.

“To facilitate graduates find employment, the government has ordered SOCSO (Social Security Organisation) to hold Penjana Career Carnivals.

“As at Oct 30 2020, 229 Penjana Career Carnivals involving 541 employers have successfully placed 4,060 graduates and other job seekers,” he said when replying a question by Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (PH-Pandan) at Dewan Rakyat today.

Dr Wan Azizah wanted to know the measures and actions of the government to address the problem of employment opportunities for fresh graduates as well as workers who were terminated due to the economic recession this year.

Commenting further, Awang said  the government is looking at various employment opportunities which could be created to offer them to fresh graduates and workers who were retrenched due to the economic crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said various programmes and initiatives are being carried out to improve the national young manpower ecosystem and the development of marketability programme.

According to him, among the initiatives  and programmes implemented are the Structured Internship Programme (SIP), Nurturing Expert Talent (NEXT), Scholarship Talent Attraction & Retention (STAR) and Young Employable Students (YES!).

Apart from that, two sessions of the Industry-Academia Collaboration (IAC) were held between Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) (Medical Industry) and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) (General Study) as well as National Dual Training System (NDTS), Employment Recruitment  Incentives Programme, mobility aid and training programmes under the National Economic Recovery Plan (PENJANA).
