China Launches World’s First 6G Satellite Into Orbit

The University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, along with the Chinese Embassy in the U.S and Chinese State Media posted a video of a rocket sending 13 satellites into orbit, where among one of them is a 6G testing satellite. On Nov. 6, the video then went viral, getting the attention of the public.

Reportedly, it will test the technology of terahertz waves in space, high-frequency radiation, allowing data to travel 50 gigabytes per second, making it 100 times faster than today’s wireless technology.

On the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China’s website, they mentioned a few partnerships with other universities, including those in the U.S, to help get a better grasp of the 6G technology, and see how it’ll work.

China and a few other universities, institutions, and corporations worldwide, will be working with their telecommunications specialists.

The state media of China has reported that the technology will be used for Smart City construction, disaster prevention, and environmental protection.

The technology is expected to be available worldwide in 2030.
