Elvis Presley is one of the most famous Rock and Roll celebrities in this whole wide world. There are many people who would definitely have heard about him and also idolize him. He is truly well-known by many of his songs that remain as a hit until now and some of that catchy songs would be “Can’t Help Falling In Love” and “Suspicious Mind”. Because of the iconic stands that he has, most personal belongings of him have been something that his fans wanted.
Recently, Elvis Presley’s lock of hair is also announced to be up for auction this 19th of November 2020. This particular auction will be going on at the Hansons Auctioneers, Bishton Hall in Wolseley Bridge, Stafford. Other than his lock of hair, a racquet that has been used by Elvis Presley before also is going to be up for auction.
The particular lock of hair collection is still in good condition and it also accompanied by a souvenir card. On the souvenir card, it is written “This card contains a lock of hair from the King of Rock and Roll as cut by Mr Gil of Memphis, memories of which in future years yours they will always be – Elvis 1935-1977”. The collection was owned by one of his fans and that is the 75-year-old man named Tom Unwin.
Tom Unwin stated that the hair was cut by Elvis Presley’s hairdresser, Homer Gilleland. Then, he bought the hair from the hairdresser about 10 years ago. He said, “I bought the hair about 10 years ago and the racquet in 2002 from a man who was running an Elvis fan club I belonged to. I have been a huge Elvis fan since I was 15”. For the racquet, he has owned it since the year of 2002.
Tom Unwin also added, “I’ve collected memorabilia all my life. Everything you can imagine to do with Elvis. I’ve been to his home in Graceland, Memphis, Tennessee, a few times and met members of his band and his wife Priscilla Presley. She was fantastic”.
After 10 whole years, Tom Unwin wanted to share and spread his happiness throughout the world by selling his own personal collection of Elvis Presley to other people. He stated, “I’m selling now because I’ve had so much enjoyment from showing my Elvis memorabilia to friends over the years. I would like others to experience that same enjoyment”.
