Diamond or gold rings have been exchanged as part of wedding traditions for so many years.

Interestingly it can be said in all the traditions of the wedding ceremony, the groom will put the ring on the fourth finger or on the ring finger of the bride.

Is this all a coincidence or is it all traditions throughout the country adopting the concept of wearing a ring on the ring finger?

Related to Ancient History

It is said that the practice of wearing a wedding ring dates back to the time of ancient Egypt where archaeologists found hieroglyphics evidence of a bride wearing a ring. In the history of other ancient cultures, there is also the practice of wearing a wedding ring on their left fingers, the culture of wearing a wedding ring on this left finger followed by the ancient Greek and Roman times.

Why The Ring On The Fourth Finger

Wearing a ring on the fourth finger or on the ring finger is because, in ancient times, people used to believe the nerves on the ring finger on the left are closely related to the heart. And the heart is the main axis of human emotions, which is why in ancient Roman times they called the ring finger ‘Vein of Love’.

Various Variations of Tradition

Whether you wear your diamond engagement ring and wedding band on your right hand or left, your index finger or thumb, your ring finger is not what matters.

More than just beautiful pieces of jewellery, your engagement and wedding rings symbolize a promise of your commitment to one another, your future experiences, and your union together.

They are an unwavering symbol of your love, now and Forever.
