Chris Pine To Star In Paramount’s ‘Dungeons and Dragons’ Movie

In “Dungeons and Dragons”, a forthcoming film adaptation by Paramount and eOne’s that uses the iconic fantasy role-playing game as its plot, is in negotiation with Chris Pine on him being the star of the movie.

The film is directed and the script written by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, the pair best known for “Game Night” starring Rachel McAdams and Jason Bateman, which is based on a draft by Michael Gilio.

Paramount is co-producing and co-financing Hasbro and eOne’s “Dungeons and Dragons” film. In the UK, eOne is distributing the movie. And Canada, while the rollout in the rest of the world is being done by Paramount.

The release date was recently moved back to May 27, 2022, from November 2021.

Jeremy Latcham is making the eOne movie that was purchased last year by Hasbro. For Hasbro, Brian Goldner is making.

In 2000, “Dungeons and Dragons” was first adapted into a New Line Cinema movie. The film was a critical and commercial flop, starring Justin Whalin, Marlon Wayans, and Jeremy Irons.

For years, the coming version has been in the works. It was initially set up with Ansel Elgort being considered for the lead role at Warner Bros.

At that time, filmmaker Rob Letterman was set to direct “Goosebumps”. The film was moved to Paramount after a legal dispute between Sweetpea Entertainment and Hasbro over ownership rights. Before being replaced by Goldstein and Daley in 2019, Chris McKay was brought to the helm of the film.

Pine can be seen next in the superhero adventure “Wonder Woman 1984” alongside Gal Gadot, reprising his role as the love interest of Wonder Woman, Steve Trevor.

The sequel to the smash hit “Wonder Woman” from 2017 is debuting on HBO Max and on Dec. 25 in U.S. movie theaters.

He is currently working on the forthcoming film “Don’t Worry Darling” by Olivia Wilde. Florence Pugh and Harry Styles both star in a said psychological thriller.
