Did you know, Cica has been one of the K-beauty trends for several years from 2016 until now. Almost all well-known brands have released similar types of creams and masks, generally with ‘Cica’ as part of the product name.

Not a medical or cosmetic word but derived from a special skincare ingredient – ‘Centella Asiatica’ that helps soothe irritated skin and repair damaged skin, even more so with healing ingredients. There is also a report, Cica comes from Latin – ‘cicatrix’ (scar).

Cica or so-called Gotu Kola and Tiger Grass are very rich in antioxidants, amino acids, beta-carotene, fatty acids, as well as various vitamins including vitamins A, B1, B2, and C.

In Malaysia, it is very popular among the country’s three major races, namely Malay, Chinese and Indian. For the Malays, it is eaten fresh as a side dish, for the Chinese use as a body cooling drink, while for the Indians as a tonic alertness.
