You Might Want To Check Your Gas Stove If The Flame Changes Color

For women especially housewives they are almost everyday spending their time in the kitchen every day. While cooking, have you ever or not watched the color of fire in a gas stove? If you notice, it will usually be blue. But sometimes it will be yellow, orange and red. But why?

If you want to know, every color released by the fire in the gas stove has its own meaning. Whether it is dangerous or not for you. What does it mean behind every color of fire in the gas stove?

Blue color

In the middle of cooking and watching the gas stove, we will see a blue flame that means your gas stove is actually in good condition and safe to use. Blue fire means it is the right amount of gas and oxygen used for perfect combustion.

Having a temperature above 1500 ° C makes this blue flame does not contain a toxic gas that is carbon monoxide. In addition, this fire also does not produce soot and smoke.

Orange Or Yellow

Having a temperature from 1000 ° C to 1200 ° C indicates that combustion does not occur properly. When imperfect combustion occurs, your home can be a place to collect carbon monoxide gas.

If the gas stove fires this color, close the gas stove and leave the house for a while. This is because we cannot smell and see carbon monoxide so it is important to put a carbon monoxide alarm or call a gas technician to check your gas stove.

The danger of carbon monoxide gas is that it can replace oxygen in the blood as it breathes and moves to the heart, brain and vital organs that need oxygen. And it can make you faint or drown.

Red color

This red fire indicates it lacks oxygen and causes incomplete combustion. Having a temperature of only around 1000 ° C, it is a fire that is outside and not hot compared to others. The amount of carbon monoxide gas present in this red flame is higher than that of a yellow or orange flame.

At the same time, if you cook using this fire, it will make your pot soot. Furthermore, this red flame is a sign that the gas in your barrel is depleted or almost depleted.

Why The Color Of Gas Fire Can Be Different?

If yesterday the fire was blue and today it turned yellow or red, you need to know it happened due to the flow of air and gas. This flow to some extent affects the amount of carbon monoxide in the air. If the color of this fire changes it is a sign of either a problem with the gas stove or burner.

Switch Back To Blue Fire

Before you change your gas stove fire, make sure safety precautions are taken. To your knowledge, yellow, orange, and red flames can be improved to return to blue with these steps:

  • Adjust the burner until the yellow, orange or red flame disappears and turns blue.
  • If the gas does not ignite, it is likely that the gas tube is clogged with food debris and needs to be cleaned.
  • Splashing when turning on the gas stove means you need to change the module on the gas stove.
  • Airways are blocked or not adjusted properly. You can fix it by adjusting the knob.
  • If you look at the gas stove and wonder why these gas colors change, you can fix it yourself. But for safety, you can call a licensed gas technician to do it.
