In case you haven’t heard, ‘cloud bread’ is kind of a big deal. For those cutting back on refined carbohydrates, this grain-free, low-carb alternative seems to be a great snack. Cloud bread is a high-protein alternative to bread.
It’s only three ingredients, there’s no kneading required, and you don’t have to wait around for hours for the bread to rise. It also happens to be low-carb, gluten-free, and grain-free compared to the regular stuff. Cloud bread tastes fluffy and doughy just like your favorite sourdough. All you need to bake it at home are egg whites, sugar, and corn starch.
This cloud bread is beautifully fluffy and full of tiny air bubbles and very squishy and satisfying and it is also quite delicious. It’s light and airy and reminiscent of a marshmallow. It kind of tastes like angel food cake texture-wise, but not taste-wise.
To make this cake bread, you need to separate three egg whites into a bowl and whip them up. When it’s frothy, add in 30 grams of sugar and also 10 grams of cornstarch. Whip the mixture until it becomes thick. Place it on a baking sheet in any shape you desire but people typically choose a bread-like dome shape. Place it into a 300-degree oven, and you’ll have beautiful cloud bread in about 25 minutes.
