Who would have thought, behind the funny character Mr. Bean who is really liked and admired by most from around the world actually has a ‘bitter’ reality that his actor, Rowan Atkinson has to go through?
According to The Independent, Rowan Atkinson says that he actually does not enjoy carrying the character of Mr. Bean.
He has been carrying the iconic comedy character since 1990 and is currently involved in the production of the new animated film Mr. Bean which marks the return of one of his most popular roles.
While working on the new Mr. Bean, the 65-year-old actor has revealed that he looks forward “to the end of it”.
“I don’t much enjoy playing him,” Atkinson said.
“The weight of responsibility is not pleasant. I find it stressful and exhausting, and I look forward to the end of it, ”he added.
“Mr. Bean’s success has never surprised me,” continued the actor about the success of the Mr. Bean series until it became popular around the world.
“Watching an adult behaving in a childish way without being remotely aware of his inappropriateness is fundamentally funny. The fact that comedy is visual rather than verbal means it has been successful internationally, too. ”
Atkinson plays the iconic character in 15 episodes of Mr. Bean between 1990 and 1995. He also played the role in two feature films namely Bean and Mr. Bean’s Holiday, released in 1997 and 2007 respectively.
