20 Year Old Malaysian Used His Saved Up Pocket Money To Set Up Food Bank

20-year-old Malaysian named Praviin from Port Dickson has took the initiative to set up a food bank by using his own pocket money to make sure no one goes hungry during this trying time of the COVID-19 situation.

According to BERNAMA, Praviin has already started this kind-hearted project four years ago when he was in Form Three and he was affected by his classmate’s plight who came from an underprivileged family. Since then, he began to help contribute basic food items such as rice, sugar, flour, milk and cooking oil from house to house with his teacher’s help.

Praviin said, “When I was in school, my father would give me RM20 a week and from that I would save RM13 for donation purposes. I managed to save RM100 to RM200 but at that time, I could only help ten difficult families selected in this area”. He also worked part-time at a car wash to increase his funds.

“I’m not able to contribute on a large scale so I just do the best I can to make sure no one goes hungry in Port Dickson,” he added.

Praviin who intends to become a People’s Representative (MP) in the future, has already set up two food banks at Batu 9, Teluk Kemang and Taman Mewah, Jalan Pantai. He currently works at his father’s air-conditioning shop and said his family is in full support of his philanthropic initiatives.

He stated, “I really like helping people… I want to help in terms of education, food and my mission is to make Port Dickson a zero-hunger district”.

He also added, “So far the initiatives I have taken have received positive feedback from the local community and those in need. I also welcome if there are parties who want to come forward to provide assistance, can contact me via number 017-3234033”.
