Book Review: Learn Math Easily Through A Comic Book?

Yaashwin Sarawanan has taken the world and also the internet by storm in the year 2019 when he appeared and won second place on ‘Asia’s Got Talent’. Recently, he has published a comic of his own in which he taught the techniques used to calculate as fast as a calculator.

This book is made especially for children and teenagers because it is made in the form of comics to attract reading interest.

The particular comic book is titled ‘Human Calculator – Be Your Own Calculator’ where he imparts some of his knowledge in mental math. According to Yaashwin Sarawanan, there are no secrets to being a ‘Human Calculator’.

This comic is not filled with numbers but it is arranged into a story with each page loaded with graphics – cute graphics! In fact, this comic also tells the basics – the basics of fast calculation pretty well, very suitable for beginners. Learn how to use the abacus and fingers to count quickly.

This comic book published by the ‘Human Calculator’ himself is to help teenagers out there who want to calculate as fast as a calculator. This book is a formula from him and the first comic that is seen as very knowledgeable. Yaashwin Sarawanan said, “All the secrets are in this book! Calendars (guessing any day of the week), fifth roots (retracing the original number that has been multiplied five times), counting numbers with just your bare fingers, it’s all in here”.

Yaashwin Sarawanan believes that mathematic, or any subject for that matter, should not be feared and even admitted that he wasn’t very good at the subject. From the way, the book is written and the message is presented, it seems like Yaashwin and the publisher, White Coat Effect, were trying to help others with their fear of numbers as well.

He also wanted to share his knowledge, as many including his parents often request him to do so, and writing a book seemed like a great way of doing it.
