Inspirational Story: 6-Year-Old Boy Who Bakes And Sells Delicious Cookies For Chinese New Year

Recently, there has been news about an adorable 6-year-old boy that went viral. That boy named Jonah already has his own cookie business at a young age. Jonah actually has a really big passion and also a love for baking. He even dreams for him to run his own bakery someday in the future. Because of that, his mom named  Miyumi Yanagi decided to help him and create a small cookie business for her beloved son in the month of December 2020.

The cookie business is called ‘Jonah Bakes Happy Cookies’ has started selling delicious gingerbread and also chocolate chip cookies to all their family and friends. In a statement, Miyumi Yanagi shared that she was actually surprised when more orders began pouring in soon after for her son’s cookies.

Despite the amazing and incredible talent that this amazing 6-year-old boy has, Jonah actually suffers from skeletal dysplasia, a rare genetic disorder that hinders his growth and development. This has affected his bones and joints, which are more fragile than an average kid.

This requires him to be extra careful when doing different activities that might otherwise easily fracture his bones. Even though he is fighting with that, Jonah can be seen as a very cheerful and active person especially when he is doing something he loves and that is baking.

Other than that, this family also just recently passed through a hard moment for them. His mother has recently came out of an abusive marriage and now is currently a single parent of two boys. Because of that,  Miyumi Yanagi has to face challenges like medical bills, living expenses and also has to consider special education for Jonah. Now, she’s grateful that Jonah has since been sponsored to attend trial classes online for differently-abled children like him.

For this time of Chinese New Year, Jonah Bakes Happy Cookies is currently selling pineapple tarts, peanut cookies, salted egg cornflake cookies, and also the one and only Jonah’s carefully hand-decorated ‘Lucky 8’ vanilla cookies.
