Moderate Earthquake Hits Philippine Archipelago

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 8  — A moderate earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale hit the the Philippine archipelago at 8 am Monday.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department, in a statement said, the quake’s epicentre was 189 kilometers north of Talaud Islands, Indonesia, near the Philippines, at a depth of 10 km.

However, there is no tsunami threat to Malaysia.
