Throwing Customers Parcels, MCMC Warns Courier Companies

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) through a media statement uploaded via Facebook yesterday took a serious look at the viral incident involving several employees of a courier company throwing customers parcels.

Through the statement, MCMC also asked the courier company to provide an explanation following the issue. MCMC warns the management of the courier company to improve the handling of customer packages.

“MCMC would also like to remind all courier companies licensed under the Postal Services Act 2012 to always comply with the conditions and regulations, especially in protecting consumer rights to ensure that enforcement action is not taken against their companies,” wrote the statement.

“If licensees are found to be in breach of any subsidiary legislation under the Postal Services Act 2012, they can be sentenced to not more than RM300,000 or to imprisonment not exceeding three (3) years or both,” added MCMC.

MCMC also reminds consumers that they need to contact the service provider to make any complaints and claims in the event of damage or loss of goods during the delivery period.

If the consumers are not satisfied with the resolution offered, an appeal application can be submitted to the MCMC at https://aduan.skmm.gov.my/  along with complete information so that investigations and follow-up actions can be taken.
