Bridgerton is an adaptation of a series of novels by Julia Quinn. The Netflix adaptation has a diverse and multi-racial group of casts, giving an alternative look at historical fiction. The actress’s Indian heritage is certainly an interesting addition to the already vibrant cast. The storytelling containing Jane Austen’s vibe along with 19th-century Gossip Girl style narration captivates the audience worldwide. The series broke Netflix’s viewership records of 82 million households globally.

Reception

The announcement has received a positive reception from fans of the book and series alike praising Netflix’s decision and Ashley’s beauty that suits the character and the vision of the director. Even the original author herself approved of the casting choice.

About Kate Sheffield

Many book enthusiasts are excited to follow the romance between Anthony and the headstrong Kate as he searches for love. In the book, Kate and her half-sister, Edwina arrived in London during the social season. Upon their arrival, they caught the eye of Lord Bridgerton. According to Netflix’s tweet: “Kate is a smart, headstrong young woman who suffers no fools—Anthony Bridgerton very much included.” The second season will focus more on the witty, fun, and troublesome relationship between the stoic Bridgerton and the intelligent Kate.
