Are You Sure To Use It? This Bathroom At Lithuania Will Definitely Make You Feel Uncomfortable

A bathroom at a Lithuanian restaurant makes you feel like you’re being watched. The bathroom at Galeria Urbana, a restaurant in Kaunas, Lithuania commissioned Gyva Grafika, to artistically redecorate the restroom.

However, they mentioned they did not feel comfortable replacing the wall tiles. Gyva Grafika, a creative design and décor studio found a way to implement their vision.

The point of the project “WC for Architects” was bringing the outside inside. Photographers went out to a Soviet-era Kaunas neighborhood and took photos of the apartment building facades there. Some have the inhabitants looking out the window.

“There were people who didn’t trust the paparazzi they saw through their windows. Some even went outside to question us,” a Gyva Grafika spokesperson said. “But we would tell them about the art project we were working on and they would happily leave us alone.”

Due to their client’s request, the designers printed the photos in high definition sticker form and stuck them on the bathroom tiles. This creates the effect of a Soviet-era apartment building inside the bathroom. This makes some shy users a little uncomfortable.

The heart of the project comes from the culture of Lithuanians. “Lithuania often neglects its public spaces,” Gyva Grafika stated. “A lot of people live in the cleanest apartments but once they step outside the situation changes completely. Stairwells, yards, and other public spaces are usually abandoned and ignored. For this reason, we have decided to balance these daily surroundings and introduced the outside to the inside.”

The project became a massive success. People started requesting the stickers for their own homes. In the end, Gyva Grafika started selling the stickers on its website.
