“I Don’t Deserve To Keep My Salary While I Further My Studies” – Syed Saddiq

Recently, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has posted a statement on his own official Facebook social media platform stating that he will be leaving for Singapore for a month to finish his studies at NUS Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy on a full scholarship soon. Throughout the whole month, he’s there, Syed Saddiq would be handed over his salary this month as the elected representative to the people of Muar.

He stated in his Facebook posting, “I don’t deserve to keep my salary while I further my studies”. He also added that while he is in Singapore furthering his studies, his efforts in Malaysia will be continued by his team in Muar.

He said the course, which he had taken since the month of September in 2020, required him to physically attend the class after it was conducted online before. Syed Saddiq also said, “I don’t go on vacation but to study. I hope my studies in this ‘Public Policy’ field will make me a better member of Parliament and policymaker for Muar and Malaysia”. Therefore, he feels that he is not eligible to receive the salary for March 2021 as he is studying.

He added that since the commencement of MCO, the Muar team has successfully helped more than 765 families to receive laptops and tablets, 5500 families to receive Food Bank assistance, and 150 students to receive the Harapan Muar Scholarship.

He ended the posting by saying, “Thank you Malaysians. Thank you, Muar. Pray for my safe journey home”.
