Monopoly Board Painted On Floor Found By A Couple During Remodeling

A monopoly board is nothing unusual but have you heard of a Monopoly board that is painted the size of an entire room? It might seem peculiar but evidently, a trend of homeowners using an entire room’s floor as a Monopoly board surfaced some time ago.

Recently, that was what the house owner found under a torn carpeting when they were remodeling the room. Pictures of discovery were posted on Reddit by the homeowner’s son-in-law where it was shown that all the game elements needed to play the U.S version of Monopoly were there.

An entire room provided for the children to play is common and the Monopoly board is there is not really a mind-blowing finding. However, the board game found by this particular Reddit user who doesn’t tell the location of his in-law’s house is accurately hand-painted. It was very detailed with Community Chest, a square for Go, and a Jail square painted in detail. Even the colors of the board are alike. At first glance, it looks just like the ones we buy from game shops except for the ten times the bigger size.

Apart from this harmless floor-sized of Monopoly board, a bolder version was also found seven years ago in California. It was an altered version where the property squares are topped with silhouettes of naked women to make it look more adult compared to the original. It was said that the husband wanted to keep the board but the wife was against his idea before he could voice out his thoughts.

“That’s probably why we got divorced,” he said in a news item at the time.

Apparently, hidden stuff under the wall or the floor of an old house is not strange. People sometimes hide things such as money, papers, drawing, or other oddities and as time passes by, they completely forget about it. Those items are usually discovered decades later during renovation by new owners. Most of the time, the discoveries are just some nostalgic items of the past tenants.
