(Video) ‘Star Wars’ Scene of Anakin And Padme Is The New Internet’s Favorite Meme

There is a new Star Wars meme out there and people are actually having a whole lot of fun with it. The context of the original story of the meme might not be suitable to be a meme but the facial expressions of the two actors are what has inspired hundreds of memes as Padme’s doubt when questioning Anakin has proved to be versatile for many different subjects.

The meme has spread rapidly throughout the internet, with hundreds of variations showing up all over social media as the momentum of the meme has increased in the past week. So the format is that someone will say something, then the other person will give a follow-up clarifying question and when the other person avoids answering it, the person seeking clarification begins to freak out.

The meme was originally derived from a scene in the film in which the characters Anakin Skywalker and Padme Amidala are enjoying a romantic picnic while discussing politics. Padme, a senator for the Galactic Republic, is a bit more optimistic in the system’s ability to govern, while Anakin remains skeptical.

“I don’t think the system works”, says Anakin. When asked how it can work better, he elaborates. “We need a system where the politicians sit down and discuss the problem”, he explains. “Agree on what’s the best interest for all the people, and then do it”.

“That’s exactly what we do”, replies Padme. “The trouble is that people don’t always agree”.

“Well, they should be made to”, Anakin interjects, worrisomely. “By whom”, Padme asks incredulously. “Who’s going to make them? You?”. “Of course not me”, her date retorts. “But someone. Someone wise”.

“Sounds an awful lot like a dictatorship to me”, Padme remarks, to which Anakin says with a coy smile, “Well if it works”.
