Book Review: One of The Best Malaysian Horror Books, ‘Horror Stories’ By Tunku Halim

This particular book called ‘Horror Stories’ features twenty of the author’s best short stories such as Biggest Baddest Bomoh, Mr Petronas, The Rape of Martha Teoh, Night of the Pontianak, Malay Magick and Gravedigger’s Kiss. This is actually a collection that will make you tingle in all sorts of places. The author is none other than Tunku Halim.

Tunku Halim is one of the most well-known Malaysian authors and his name can be spotted easily everywhere in major bookstores across Malaysia. He has written a great number of books both fiction and nonfiction. But he is widely known for his horror stories which lead him to be noted as Malaysia’s Prince of Darkness. His frightful yet thrilling work of fictions are apt to those who wish to read horror stories past midnight.

It is a compilation of short stories. They are quite interesting and also scary, reminded many of the readers of Steven Spielberg’s The Amazing Stories TV series. Even though most stories have a predictable ending but they all still enjoyed reading them. What he meant by horror stories include those stories that are scary and could happen to anyone. But mostly is supernatural stories.

In it are the most horrible things that many people have ever read. This book really changed peoples’ life and some of the stories that they have read stays with them till this day.
