‘One Piece’ Anime Will Finally Get Its Own Netflix’s Live-Action Adaptation

One Piece is a famous Japanese anime series written and illustrated by the one and only Eiichiro Oda. The story is about the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy, a boy whose body gained the properties of rubber after unintentionally eating a Devil Fruit. With his own crew of pirates, named the Straw Hat Pirates, Luffy then explores the Grand Line in search of the world’s ultimate treasure known as ‘One Piece’ in order to become the next King of the Pirates.

After a very long time waiting, the One Piece anime series is finally getting its own Netflix’s live-action adaptation. The show was ordered for 10 episodes on Netflix back in the month of January. In addition to the manga, 20 seasons of the One Piece anime series have been released to date along with 14 animated films. The adaptation was first announced back in the year 2017, with Netflix’s involvement revealed last year. Now in the year 2021, the show’s main cast has finally been announced, and One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda seems excited about how things are going.

Iñaki Godoy will play Monkey D. Luffy, with Mackenyu set to play Roronoa Zoro. Emily Rudd will play Nami, while Jacob Romero Gibson will play Usopp.  Taz Skylar will play Sanji. All the characters are members of the Straw Hat Pirates, the protagonists of the series. All of them are such amazing actors that would play the characters perfectly.

Steven Maeda serves as co-writer, showrunner, and executive producer on the One Piece live-action series, with Matt Owens, co-writing and executive producing. Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements produce along with Oda. It is actually a co-production between Netflix and Tomorrow Studios, with Netflix handling the physical production.
