(Video) Abandoned Magnificent Palace In Perak, Known As ‘Istana Raja Muda Lama’

‘Istana Raja Muda Lama’ is actually a magnificent palace located at Jalan Syed Abu Bakar in Teluk Intan, Perak. This palace was built around the year 1922. This palace is the Official Palace of Raja Muda Perak. The first Raja Muda to reside here was the late Raja Muda Abdul Aziz who later became Sultan Abdul Aziz and he is the 31st Sultan of Perak.

This palace was finally occupied by the late Raja Muda Ahmad Siffuddin. In 1988, DYTM Raja Muda Raja Dr. Nazrin Shah has moved to Istana Tetamu in Ipoh. The castle was abandoned and also no longer maintained but still remains in its original area. However, around September 2021, the Perak state government wants to sell the palace’s land.

Among the activities held at the palace was to receive the arrival of the Governor-General of the Malayan Union and that was Sir Malcolm MacDonald to Anson Bay in the year 1947 and he was celebrated by the 32nd Sultan of Perak, the late Sultan Yussuf Izzuddin Shah who was then the Raja Muda. One of the biggest festivals ever held here was a wedding ceremony on 1st August 1963, between Raja Aminah who was the second daughter of the then Raja Muda of Perak, namely Raja Muda Musa with Lieutenant Tengku Ibrahim, the second son of the Sultan of Pahang.

The lively ceremony began with 15 cannon shots to mark the beginning of the work of the ceremony led by Kadi Teluk Anson, Haji Abdul Kahar Abdul Jabar. The particular wedding ceremony was lively with many dignitaries from all over the country present to celebrate the royal wedding. Such a fascinating festive to enjoy back in the days.
