A highway is actually any public or even private road or another public way on land. It is used for major roads, but also includes other public roads and public tracks. In Malaysia, it is known as the Malaysian Expressway System and it is a network of national controlled-access expressways in Malaysia that forms the primary backbone network of Malaysian national highways. Malaysian expressways are indeed built by private companies under the supervision of the government highway authority that is known as the Malaysian Highway Authority which is abbreviated as MHA.
There are so many different kinds of highways that are built here in this country that is Malaysia and all of them are absolutely fascinating to look at. 1) Duke Highway
Duta–Ulu Klang Expressway (DUKE) is actually the main expressway network in Klang Valley, Malaysia. The 18 km expressway connects New Klang Valley Expressway’s Jalan Duta Interchange to Taman Hillview Interchange on Kuala Lumpur Middle Ring Road 2 28 in Ulu Klang. The expressway was constructed to provide the “missing link” between New Klang Valley Expressway, Kuala Lumpur–Karak Expressway, and Kuala Lumpur Middle Ring Road 2. This expressway is also known as the Kuala Lumpur Northeast Dispersal Link Scheme. It was proposed by Tan Sri Datuk Lim Kang Hoo, a chairman of Ekovest Berhad.
2) Federal Highway Batu 3 Shah Alam
Federal Highway is a Malaysian controlled-access highway connecting the capital city of Kuala Lumpur, and Klang, Selangor. The highway starts from Seputeh in Kuala Lumpur to Klang, Selangor. It is the busiest highway in Klang Valley during rush hour from or to Kuala Lumpur.
3) SILK Highway
SILK, also known as Kajang SILK Highway is an expressway built to disperse and regulate the traffic flow in Kajang, Selangor, Malaysia. The 37 km expressway is to allow motorists to bypass the town center of Kajang. It is also useful as the main ring road of Kajang. The Kilometre Zero is located at Mines Interchange near Seri Kembangan.
4) Genting Highway
The Genting Sempah–Genting Highlands Highway is the main highway from Genting Sempah to Genting Highlands, Malaysia’s famous mountain resort and entertainment park. This is a private highway owned by Genting Berhad. The speed limit of the highway is 50 km/h.
5) Batu Caves Roundabout
Batu Caves roundabout is one of the busiest roundabouts that got ever been built in Malaysia. It is definitely near the Batu Cave area.
6) MEX Highway
The Maju Expressway (MEX) is an expressway network in Klang Valley, Malaysia. The 26 km-long expressway links the Kuala Lumpur City Centre with the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) in Sepang, Selangor. The expressway is the backbone of the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) area.
7) Penang 1st Bridge
The Penang Bridge is a 13.5-kilometer dual carriageway toll bridge and controlled-access highway in the state of Penang, Malaysia. The bridge connects Perai on the mainland side of the state with Gelugor on the island, crossing the Penang Strait. The bridge was the first and, until 2014, the only road connection between the peninsula and the island. The bridge is the second-longest bridge in Malaysia and the fifth-longest in Southeast Asia by total length, with a length over the water of 8.4 kilometers.
8) Penang 2nd Bridge
Penang Second Bridge is a dual carriageway toll bridge in Penang, Malaysia. It connects Bandar Cassia in Seberang Perai on mainland Peninsular Malaysia with Batu Maung on Penang Island. It is the second bridge to link the island to the mainland after the first Penang Bridge. The total length of the bridge is 24 km with a length over water at 16.9 km, making it the longest bridge in Malaysia and the second-longest in Southeast Asia.
9) Rawang Bypass
Rawang Bypass is a federally-funded divided highway bypass in Rawang, Selangor, Malaysia. The 10-km highway was opened to traffic on 28 November 2017 at 9.00 pm. Construction of the RM628mil Rawang Bypass began on 16 July 2005 and was completed on 21 November 2017. It features a 2.7-km elevated viaduct with its highest pillar of 58.2 meters. the highest of its kind in Malaysia.
10) Penchala Link
Penchala Link connects Sungai Penchala to Mont Kiara in Klang Valley.
