Jim Carrey As Robotnik, Producers Wont Recast If He Retires

Jim Carrey as Robotnik has been an iconic character in the Sonic series. Not long ago, Jim Carrey announced that he will be retiring from acting. This is the idea that he will do right after the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie. It is indeed a piece of so sad news that need to be accepted by many people if it comes true. As of now, nothing is confirmed yet.

Due to that, the producers of the Sonic series that are Neal H. Moritz and Toby Ascher have made a statement. They said that there would be no agreement on the idea of recasting the character. This is if and only if Jim Carrey goes through with retiring. They might have to find a new villain.

The producers said in an interview with IGN, “Jim Carrey is always a member of the Sonic family. And he’ll always have a place in these movies and TV shows as long as he’d like to be around. We love Jim and he’s so special. What he does with Robotnik is so incredible. We would love him as long as he’d like to be there with us”.

In addition, there has been a plan for the third Sonic movie and also a TV series. All of these are part of the plans for the Sonic the Hedgehog cinematic universe. This is according to a report stated by the Game Spot website recently.

For those who might not know, Robotnik is now going by the name Eggman in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. He has finally returned from the mushroom planet with a red echidna named Knuckles in tow. The particular pair are searching for a magical emerald with the power to create or destroy entire civilizations. It is definitely a very exciting mission also.
