Avatar Becomes The Highest Grossing Film….Again!

With the re-release of the hit 2009 Avatar directed by James Cameron, the movie has officially earn more money than any other movie ever.

The film has hit the $2.9 billion (RM13.4 billion) mark at the global box office, beating Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame. This makes it the highest grossing film of all time.

With the movie hitting the $2.9 billion mark, this makes it the first film to hit that threshold. When the movie came out in 2009, Avatar managed surpassed Titanic as the highest-grossing film of all time.

However, Avengers: Endgame managed to take over the title in 2019, earning $2.79 billion. Avatar re-released in cinemas over the weekend which is enough to overtake Avengers: Endgame, reclaiming their title.

This epic science fiction/fantasy adventure chronicles the narrative of marine Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) as he teams up with the natives of an extraterrestrial moon named Pandora to fight against an invasion army.

The movie was released to generate hype for the sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water. The sequel will release this December.

With Avatar: The Way of Water releasing 13 years after the first Avatar, it is unknown if viewers are still curious in returning to the realm of Pandora.

The success of Avatar’s latest re-release demonstrates fans’ interest in James Cameron’s epic plot, even though many questions remain.
