Have you ever thought of decorating your house with houseplants? If so, go for it! Imagine being surrounded by nature. So refreshing! Minnesota State Horticultural Society shares some of the houseplants that are easy to handle. The friendly-type!

1. Snake plant

Sansevieria or is known well by the name ‘snake plant’ is a tall and pointy plant that can reach the height of 12 feet tall. The snake plant is from a succulent family. Due to that, snake plant prefers loose soil that can drain easily. Here’s a tip: Do not over-water this plant. Instead, you can just leave the plant for 6 weeks in a room with low and indirect light.

2. Spider plant

The scientific name of this spider-looking plant is chlorophytum comosum. During winter, this plant can produce spiderettes. Therefore, you can plant more spider plants! Moreover, unlike succulents that do not like water, this plant needs water, but make sure not to drown it so it will stay healthy. Another tip is to place them not directly into the sun. Nevertheless, this plant still needs a bright room that has a cool temperature.

3. Pothos

Whoever wants a jungle-theme home, pothos or Epipremnum aureum is a perfect choice for you. This plant can wind up on windows and doors or anything that it touches. Most importantly, this plant will do its job purifying the air. It is easy to care for this plant as it can adapt to any light situation, but it adapts better in brighter places. Even so, this plant needs water whenever the soil is dry.

4. Sweet cheese plant

This plant can grow tall to 8 feet inches. To keep this plant straight, you will be needing a stabilizer. The sweet cheese plant will also reach for sunlight at times. Therefore, make sure to rotate them. Caution! Be aware of meal bugs! The holes on the leaves make it looks like cheese. Now you know where it gets its name.

5. Aloe vera

Aloe vera or aloe barbadensis is very common among us. Despite its beauty, it is also known for its medical uses. It has been widely used in skincare products because of its many benefits. Because it is a succulent, aloe vera needs bright but indirect sunlight. This plant is spiky and rarely blooms a flower for a houseplant. 

According to Piedmont Healthcare, houseplants also can help us to stay focused and reduce anxiety and stress. So, instead of using plastic houseplants, go and grab one of these five houseplants now!
