How To Do It? Claim Your Unclaimed Money At JANM

It is a nice feeling to find money in places you don’t expect right? Imagine you are going through your pocket and you find a RM100 note in it. I’m sure you would be happy, am I right!

Have you ever wondered if you have any unclaimed monies? It could be money that is left sitting in your savings account or insurance money that has been authorized but not yet claimed.

You can now check if you have any unclaimed money at the Jabatan Akauntan Negara Malaysia (JANM) office or through their website.

What is unclaimed monies?

According to the JANM website, there are 3 categories of unclaimed monies. They are:

  1. Money which are legally payable to the owner but have remained unpaid for a period of not less than one year (e.g salaries, bonuses, dividends etc).
  2. Monies standing to the credit of an account that has not been operated in whatever manner by the owner for a period less than seven years (e.g savings account, current deposit, fixed deposit).
  3. Monies to the credit of a trade account that has remained dormant for a period of not less than two years (e.g trade creditors account, trade debtors account)

How to check for unclaimed monies

Twitter user @AinulNunanaa shared on her Twitter account how to check and claim your unclaimed monies. Here is a step-by-step on what you need to do!

  1. The first thing that you need to do is register yourself first. You can do that here: https://egumis.anm.gov.my/register/refunduser.
  2. After that, you can proceed to login to your account.
  3. Then, after login in, click on the purple bar that says ‘Klik Disini Untuk Carian Wang Tak Dituntut’.
  4. After clicking, enter your IC number to search for any unclaimed monies. If you have any unclaimed monies, it should pop out here.
  5. You can enter your bank account and personal details to claim the money.
