The Kudat fire set ablaze in Kampung Tanjung Kapur left 200 innocent people homeless last morning.
The blaze burnt over 20 houses in the village. However, the cause of the accident is still unknown to many.
Sabah Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson informed that 21 personnel on three fire engines arrived at the scene after receiving the call for help at 2.28 am.
When contacted, he said, “There were no casualties. The fire was under control at 4.21 am, and the firefighting operation ended at 6.43 am.”
Some personnel involved in this massive firefighting operation were from the Kudat and Kota Marudu Fire, along with Rescue Stations. They were assist by the Civil Defence Force, Kampung Air Volunteer Firefighters and Sabah Electricity Sdn. Bhd.
In a statement release by the Sabah Disaster Management Committee Secretariat, a temporary evacuation centre was open at the Rumah Rehat Daerah Kudat. The centre accommodates every affected victim of the disastrous fire. It is before the next step is take to fix the damage swept by the blaze.
Additionally, it said, “As of 2 pm (10 October), a total of 252 victims from 44 families locate at the evacuation centre, and the distribution of aid is being carried out.”
