A 19-year-old teenager, Bianca Palomera, loses her right eye after defending a special needs person from being bullied. Palomera, working as a fast food worker, in California, stepped up to help her coworker’s brother from getting harassed by a man. Also, the incident happened on November 12 at Habit Burger Grill in Antioch, California.
Palomera told NBC Bay Area that she did not expect the circumstances. Nevertheless, she did not regret her decision to help her coworker’s brother who has special needs.
Her coworker’s brother was waiting for his brother to get off work when a man started to harass him. The man threatened and looked down on him. He said that he would beat him up and said other slurs. At that time, Palomera knew she must step up and stop the man from harassing the person.
However, the man got physical and punched the teenager’s face. She tried to fight back, but the man hit her several times.
“He punched me once, and my headset and my glasses went flying off my face,” Palomera told NBC Bay Area about the incident.
The situation was caught on camera footage. The man was seen escaping the scene quickly.
Also, Palomera’s sister revealed that Palomera was rushed to a trauma centre nearby. She had to undergo emergency surgery. Palomera sustained irreversible injuries, which caused her to lose her right eye.
Palomera’s sister expressed her concern about the incident. She could not believe that a man hit a woman and caused big damage to the victim. Furthermore, Palomera’s sister also set up a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe to help her sister. The fund has raised over $100,000.
