Tourism Selangor once again participated in organizing the Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta 2022 from 18th until 26th November 2022, involving the Royal Selangor Yacht Club, Port Klang, Puteri Bayu Beach Resort, Pulau Pangkor, Straits Quay Marina, Pulau Pinang and Royal Langkawi Yacht Club, Pulau Langkawi. An effort by The State of Selangor, through its tourism promotion agency. An expected 32 boats and 320 sailors will participate this year.
The launch was officiated by Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin, the Crown Prince of Selangor at the Royal Selangor Yacht Club in Port Klang. This year, the 32nd Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta has officially kicked off on the 19th of November at 4.00 p.m., considering Malaysia’s 15th General Election that falls on the same day. This is to ignite Malaysians to fulfill their civic duties prior to the event.
The Honourable Mr. Hee Loy Sian, the Tourism and Environment Executive Committee for the State of Selangor, in a statement said, through Tourism Selangor, the Selangor State Government is funding the staging of this event to stimulate sailing activities and sporting events that develop healthy competition. This serves as a forum for foreign participants to promote culture, arts, and heritage while helping to enhance the state’s tourism sector.
The organization of the Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta will be enlivened with several activities, such as a river cleaning program and FAM Trip Programme, with interested participants. This is to drive the participants towards local heritage tourism and aims to indulge the group with Klang gastronomy, specifically our heritage food such as “Nasi Ambeng”.
The organization of Sailing Games, such as the Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta, will establish Selangor as a Sports Tourism Hub, attracting a large number of foreign tourists and showcasing Selangor as a credible sailing sports destination. This is in line with the Splendid Selangor, Take Me Anywhere Campaign that is geared towards positioning Selangor on the global map.
