Simple Steps To Follow That Will Help Guide First Time Voters For GE15!

With voting day fast approaching, there are a few things that voters need to be aware of, especially the first-time voters.

The 15th General Election (GE) will see the Undi18 voters casting their votes for the first time.

For that reason, the Election Commission of Malaysia (SPR) released an infographic on what to do when you are inside the voting station.

One thing that SPR has outlined is that mobile phones are strictly restricted inside the stations.

Moreover, SPR has outlined 10-steps that you need to complete when you enter a voting station.

10-Steps to complete when inside the voting station

1. Enter the polling station – Firstly, enter the polling station when the policeman/staff on duty gives you permission to enter.

2. Submit MyKad – Secondly, submit your Mykad and verification slip (if any) to the First Polling Clerk. Show both hands for inspection.

3. Checking MyKad – Thirdly, the First Polling Clerk will give the Mykad or voter’s identity document to the Second Polling Clerk for verification. Make sure your ID number and name mentioned by the First Polling Clerk are correct.

4. Dip finger in ink – Next, move forward to the Second Polling Clerk. Dip the index finger of the left hand into the bottle of Election Ink when asked.

5. Ballot Paper – Then, you will receive a Ballot Paper from the Third Polling Clerk.

6. Leave your phone – After that, you will move to the Polling Station Head (KTM) desk to leave the cell phone/smartphone.

7. Choose a candidate – Move to the ballot box and mark an ‘X’ in the empty space next to the candidate’s name and symbol in the Ballot Paper using a pen. Keep in mind, you can only choose one candidate.

8. Ballot Box – Insert the Ballot Paper into the correct Ballot Box.

9. Take back your phone – Move to the KTM table again to take back your cell phone/smartphone that was placed earlier.

10. Leave the station – Lastly, immediately leave the polling place after finishing voting.
