The FIFA World Cup in Qatar promises not only the never-ceasing football fever but also helps us see the beauty of the nation. As we all know, Qatar is a modern country brimming with life and excitement. You won’t feel bored as there are many fun activities and interesting places you can add to your itinerary.

The spotlight shines brightly on Qatar, but do you know that Doha, the capital city of Qatar, is the real MVP? Can you believe Doha has so much to offer? There won’t be a dull moment if you visit this lively city encased with art, architecture and culture.

Here are a few places you can visit when arriving in Doha, shared by Gulraiz (@gulraizkhan) on Twitter.

The I.M. Pei-designed building is an iconic centrepiece, according to Gulraiz. With its high vault atrium, you can see a stunning view of Doha from its courtyard. Furthermore, public art and pavilions surround the park, adding touches of beauty to the already-breathtaking place.

There are several collections like rare religious and secular manuscripts and material objects from Muslim culture globally in the museum. For example, there are the blue and pink Quran folios, an Abbasid map of the world and a talismanic shirt from the Delhi Sultanate.

The museum is famous for its desert rose-inspired architecture. Also, there are large, original videos of taxidermied animals and fossils, Bedouin tents, dhows, and lots of pearls. Interestingly, there are many interactivity fit for your children! (Adults can have a go at it too.)

An old palace is in the middle of the new museum. It shows the transformation Doha went through over the years.

For anyone thirsty for knowledge about the history of Doha, this museum offers a cluster of four galleries: slavery, Doha’s growth and transformation, the transformation of a home in Doha before/after oil discovery, and the Anglo-Persian oil company that started everything.

You’ll be blown away by the apparent changes in Doha then and now after your visit here!

This neighbourhood isn’t your typical neighbourhood. It’s the first in Doha that became derelict over time because it was razed entirely to the ground. After the tragic incident, it was built from scratch again, using historic/vernacular design. It fits the mould of Doha’s modernity as they aim for a medium-density, close-knot and high-quality urban lifestyle.

It’s a museum belonging to Palestinian artists in Palestine. A must-visit spot when you arrive in Doha.

The classic tourist must-go spot houses many old shops and restaurants. It’s the unofficial fan fest during the World Cup, and there might be lots of exciting celebrations now. Also, you may find Metro Man giving directions here too!
