Sime Darby Motors Achieves Over 10,000 BYD Sales in Malaysia!

Sime Darby Motors, the official distributor of BYD cars in Malaysia, has achieved a remarkable milestone with the sale of over 10,000 BYD vehicles across the country. To celebrate the achievement, Sime Darby Motors organised a convoy drive for BYD owners called ‘BYD Dream Drive Melaka 2024’. Melaka was chosen to coincide with this year’s 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China, making it an apt destination given its historical connections with China dating back to the 15th century.

The convoy featured over 60 BYD cars and was flagged off from the BYD showroom in Ara Damansara, bringing together BYD owners for an exciting 2D1N trip to Melaka.

In Melaka, the participants enjoyed a cultural highlight with a visit to Encore Melaka, where they attended a mesmerising performance of the Puteri Hang Li Po Musical Theatre. Inspired by the historical tale of Sultan Mansur Shah and the Ming Dynasty princess Hang Li Po, this performance honoured the golden anniversary of Malaysia-China diplomatic relations, adding a deeper cultural dimension to the event.

Jeffrey Gan, Managing Director of Southeast Asia, Sime Darby Motors said “The milestone reflected the growing adoption of electric vehicles in the region and Sime Darby’s strong position as a leader in EV.

“Our commitment to providing the best experience and services through this strategic partnership with BYD has contributed to this success,” he added.

Eagle Zhao, Managing Director of BYD Malaysia said, “This milestone reflects the trust and support of our customers who embrace the future of mobility with BYD. It’s been an incredible journey with Sime Darby Motors and we look forward to elevating sustainable driving experiences in Malaysia.”

BYD Cars Malaysia has set its sights on reaching the next 10,000 cars milestone in a shorter timeframe as it continues its journey towards becoming a market leader in electric mobility. With an expanding footprint in Malaysia, the automotive company is firmly committed to providing revolutionary smart electric vehicles that, not only cater to the evolving needs of Malaysian consumers but push boundaries through innovation and technology.

BYD has established itself as the No.1 Electric Vehicle Brand in Malaysia, and this success is largely attributed to its strong focus on network development and customer experience. The growth and expansion of BYD in Malaysia are a testament to the increasing recognition and adoption of electric vehicles in the region.

As part of this celebration, Sime Darby Motors also highlighted the importance of its expanding BYD network in Malaysia, which now includes 26 BYD showrooms nationwide. This consists of 19 dealer partners, with 16 BYD 3S centres and 10 BYD 1S centres, ensuring BYD customers receive seamless service and support. BYD aims to expand to a total of 30 showrooms by the end of 2024.

Sime Darby Motors would like to thank all BYD car owners for their support and commitment to embracing innovative electric mobility in Malaysia.
