The Huawei Cloud AI Ecosystem Summit APAC 2025 has set bold ambitions to nurture 30,000 AI talents and cultivate 200 AI partners in Malaysia over the next three years, signalling a major push to accelerate AI adoption across ASEAN.
The summit, held on Day 2 of the ASEAN AI Summit, showcased how cloud and AI technologies can unlock economic growth while driving transformation in sectors such as healthcare, manufacturing, and smart cities.
Graced by YB Gobind Singh Deo, Minister of Digital, the event underscored Malaysia’s AI strategy, anchored by the upcoming AI Technology Action Plan 2026–2030 and a strong emphasis on ethics, sustainability, and high-value applications.
“Malaysia’s AI journey is not only for national progress but is crucial for ASEAN’s future. Public-private partnerships, such as with Huawei, are key to realising our digital economy goals,” said YB Gobind.
Simon Sun, CEO of Huawei Malaysia, announced the flagship AI Talent Programme aimed at training students, government officials, industry leaders, and innovators. The initiative will also build a robust AI partner network through knowledge sharing, cloud and AI collaborations, and partnerships with leading Chinese AI firms.
“pangu Models, ModelArts, and our AI cloud services will help Malaysian enterprises create customised AI solutions, spur local innovation, and encourage AI investment,” Sun added.
The APAC AI Ecosystem Initiative will leverage Huawei Cloud’s global footprint of 34 regions, 101 availability zones, and five regional hubs in ASEAN, along with its support for over 160 mainstream open-source models. Its industry-leading Pangu Models are already enabling AI transformation in more than 30 industries and 500 real-world scenarios.
Other speakers included Aka Dai, VP of Huawei Cloud Marketing, who called intelligence “the definitive trend” for ASEAN, and experts from the National AI Office, iFLYTEK, Zetrix, TrustDecision, and Multimedia University, who shared insights on building an inclusive and competitive AI region.
