Hyundai Powers Selangor FC with STARIA as Official Team Vehicle

Hyundai Motor Malaysia (HMY) and Selangor FC have officially kicked off a new chapter together, sealing their partnership with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and the handover of Hyundai’s premium multi-purpose vehicle, the STARIA.
The ceremony, held this morning at Menara AFFIN @ TRX, marked Hyundai’s role as Selangor FC’s Official Mobility Partner, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to Malaysian football, both on the road and on the pitch.

The signing was officiated by Mr. Eric Lee, President of Hyundai Motor Malaysia, and Dr. Johan Kamal Hamidon, CEO of Selangor FC. The moment was witnessed by His Highness Tengku Amir Shah Ibni Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, Raja Muda Selangor and Chairman of Selangor FC, alongside Ms. Jahabarnisa Haja Mohideen, Managing Director of Hyundai Motor Malaysia.

STARIA Drives Selangor FC Forward

As part of the collaboration, Hyundai has handed over the STARIA MPV to serve as the club’s official team vehicle. Known for its spacious comfort and futuristic design, the STARIA will ensure Selangor FC players and officials travel in style, safety, and efficiency throughout the season.

Fans got their first glimpse of the partnership during Selangor FC’s season opener against JDT on August 8, where Hyundai branding appeared on team polo shirts. This presence will soon expand across training kits and matchday experiences.

Beyond Branding: A Shared Vision

For Hyundai, the partnership represents more than just visibility.
“Football reflects resilience, teamwork and unity, values that mirror our own. Here in Malaysia, this vision takes on greater meaning as we join hands with Selangor FC, a club whose legacy and ambition embody the very spirit of our brand vision ‘Progress for Humanity’,” said Ms. Jahabarnisa Haja Mohideen, Managing Director of Hyundai Motor Malaysia.

Selangor FC, affectionately known as the Red Giants, boast an illustrious history with 62 major trophies, including 33 Malaysia Cup titles. Now, with Hyundai as a trusted mobility partner, the club looks to push forward in both domestic and regional competitions.
“This partnership is about more than brand visibility, it’s about working with a global leader that shares our values of performance, innovation, and passion. Hyundai’s support will help elevate Selangor FC on and off the pitch,” said Dr. Johan Kamal Hamidon, CEO of Selangor FC.

Global Legacy, Local Impact

Hyundai’s involvement in football stretches across the globe, from decades-long partnerships with FIFA World Cups to supporting gender equality in the sport. Bringing that global expertise to Malaysia, the brand is now setting the stage for new experiences where mobility and football unite, creating meaningful connections with fans and communities alike.

As the season unfolds, fans can expect to see Hyundai and Selangor FC bring this partnership to life from the road to the stadium.
