From Johor to Bukit Bintang: Hock Kee Kopitiam Opens Its First Flagship

Your go-to spot for nostalgic Malaysian flavours, Hock Kee Kopitiam, just opened its 13th outlet and it’s their biggest one yet. The new flagship store sits right at the heart of Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur’s busiest lifestyle and shopping hub.

To make things extra special, Malaysian singer and actress Bella Astillah showed up for the grand opening, joining Hock Kee’s Founder Nick Ng and the management team for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

“I’m actually a regular at Hock Kee,” Bella shared. “When I was in France recently, I missed their food so much the first thing I did when I came home was order their nasi lemak and laksa. It just tastes like home.”

From Johor to the Golden Triangle

Launched in Johor Bahru in 2018, Hock Kee has come a long way from being a humble kopitiam to a proudly Malaysian brand. After breaking into the Klang Valley scene in Bangsar South (2023) and earning its HALAL certification (2024), the brand is now making its mark in KL’s Golden Triangle, right at Ansa Hotel Bukit Bintang.

Founder Nick Ng says the brand’s mission has always been simple to bring people together through food.

“Whether you’re a local or a traveller, we want you to feel connected through one plate of nasi lemak or a cup of coffee shared at the same table,” he said.

Unity in Every Bite

Hock Kee’s brand DNA is rooted in the Malaysian value of ‘Muhibbah’ unity, harmony, and shared joy over good food. Their menu reflects that same spirit, catering to diverse communities and dietary preferences so that everyone feels at home.

What’s New at Bukit Bintang

The Bukit Bintang outlet isn’t just about location it’s bringing new flavours to the table too. Expect to see new signature dishes like:

  • Hock Kee Prawn Noodle Soup

  • Cheesy Prawn Bee Hon

  • Braised Oyster Noodles

  • Signature Hor Fun Soup

  • And the rarely-seen-in-KL Red Sauce Wonton Noodles

Plus, there’s a dedicated takeaway counter, self-order kiosks, and a freshly baked egg tart station serving flavours like Classic, Matcha, Durian, Taro, and even Curry Potato. Perfect for those quick kopi breaks or late-night cravings.

Made Fresh, Always

One thing that sets Hock Kee apart? Everything’s made to order no shortcuts, no frozen meals. Every outlet follows strict hygiene and standardised processes to keep quality consistent.
