Malaysia Hosts the 39th ASEAN SOCA Meeting: Building a Stronger, More United Southeast Asia

Malaysia, through the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), proudly hosted the 39th Senior Officials’ Committee for the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (SOCA) Meeting at Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre, Petaling Jaya.

As part of its leadership role under the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) pillar, Malaysia brought together senior officials from ASEAN Member States to strengthen regional cooperation in culture, tourism, education, and social development.

The meeting was officiated and chaired by YBhg. Dato’ Shaharuddin bin Abu Sohot, Secretary General of MOTAC.

Guided by the principles of Malaysia MADANI, sustainability, inclusivity, compassion, respect, and shared prosperity, the SOCA platform emphasized unity and collaboration in addressing cross-sectoral challenges across the region.

Through its discussions, the 39th SOCA Meeting focused on ensuring policy coherence, implementing the ASCC Blueprint, and driving ASEAN’s long-term vision for a peaceful, resilient, and people-centred community.

Held twice a year ahead of the ASCC Council, SOCA continues to play a vital role in shaping the socio-cultural direction of ASEAN, ensuring that growth and progress are achieved hand in hand with inclusivity and mutual respect.
